Sorry

Well, turns out I didn't really get an opportunity for Internet time while in South Africa. Also, having spent most of my time there with my family, I don't really feel it would have been appropriate to post about them. If I'm really organized, I might post a couple of back-dated notes or pictures when they come in, but I wouldn't count on it.

Meanwhile, slides are back from Europe, and they are really excellent. I'm going to Michigan for a week now to see Timothy at Interlochen, but when I get back I'll start planning the big slide show party.

Too Early

Well, the airport taxi's coming to pick us up at 3:45 am, just under 5 hours from now. I just said goodbye to Dad, who is of course still here but in bed, and Katie, who isn't. It's like the beginning of the year, when I was going to Israel. I miss her already.

Just packing up some last minute things. Some granola bars, that sort of thing. I have difficulty believing I've actually packed everything I'll need, but I have to remember we'll be with family and at a hotel. We're even renting a car for part of the time, so it's not like we'll be without recourse. Hell, we'll even have a cell phone. It's a bit different from the European trip, hiking from hostel to hostel. Hopefully there will be enough stories (and Internet access) to keep you entertained.

Ok, now I'm just procrastinating, which is bad, because I need sleep so I can be awake for... a day's worth of air travel. Woo. Still, I haven't been to South Africa in years, so it's exciting. I'm only taking a few rolls of regular print film this time, so no slides when I get back, just good old photos.

The next post, if there is one, should be from Africa. Remember the time difference (6 or 7 hours). The times on the blog are U.S. Eastern time. I think that confused some of you last time. Now, to try and sleep...

A New Beginning

Originally this space contained a placeholder for circuitous, Katie's and my travel blog for our month-long vacation in Europe. That trip has since been completed. Check this space soon for the new South African travel blog.
